摘要	PURPOSE:To obtain a device of a low voltage and low power consumption by providing a semiconductor laser formed by using a compound semiconductor material, an optical waveguide, and an optical switch array consisting of many optical switches arranged in this optical waveguide on a semiconductor substrate. CONSTITUTION:An integration high speed multibeam splitter is constituted of a semiconductor laser 12 formed by using a compound semiconductor material, an optical waveguide 13, and an optical switch array 14 consisting of many optical switches arranged therein on a semiconductor substrate 1 In this state, when a driving voltage is not applied to a full driving electrode and all the optical switches of the optical switch array 14 are turned off, a laser light 17 radiated from the laser 12 passes through the optical waveguide 13 and the switches for constituting the array 14 and advances. On the other hand, when in each switch of the array 14, for instance, a movement electrode 16-1 is selected and a driving voltage is applied to its terminal S1, a refractive index of an optical switch element of the electrode 16-1 is varied to n1 + DELTAn. Accordingly, a laser which passes through the optical waveguide 13 from the laser 12 is brought to total reflection by the optical switch, and outputted from a first optical switch.
