摘要 | PURPOSE:To facilitate positioning by forming a V-shaped groove for positioning an optical fiber to the extended section of a striped laser region by etching an InP board, which uses a (100) face as a main face, and employing a (110) face appearing at the terminal as a specular face. CONSTITUTION:An active region 2 is shaped to the InP single crystal 1, the (100) face is etched, and the V-shaped groove 4 is formed in the light discharging direction. The optical fiber 3 is inserted into the V-shaped groove 4, but the position and width of the V-shaped groove are determined so that the axes of the active region 2 and the core 3' of the fiber agree at that time. Both end surfaces 5 of the V-shaped groove take (111)A faces, but the terminal face 6 in the axial direction takes the (110) face, and functions as one specular face of a laser. Accordingly, the V-shaped groove for positioning the optical fiber can easily be formed with high accuracy. |
