摘要	PURPOSE:To improve the reliability and to reduce the size by utilizing a metallic holder which holds an optical isolator optical component such as a Faraday rotation element as a structure member which supports the coupling optical system of the whole module. CONSTITUTION:The Faraday rotation element 13 is cut in a square chip shape, then metallized at the peripheral part except the center circular part and soldered to the holder 36. At the same time, a cylindrical magnet 32 is metallized, then soldered to the holder 36. An analyzer 34 is fixed on the opposite end surface of the holder 36 and a polarizer 33 is fixed in another holder 35. The holder 36 where the Faraday element 31 and magnet 32 are fitted, is inserted into the spot facing of the holder 35 where the polarizer 35 is fitted, the angle of relative rotation between the polarizer and analyzer is adjusted to 45 deg., and the holders are fixed by welding in a weld zone 37 and united. Consequently, the small-sized module with high reliability is obtained.
