摘要 | An integrated wavelength stabilised laser source includes a laser diode 10. A temperature stabilising heat pump 20 is in thermal communication with the laser diode 10. At least one detector 22, 40 is encapsulated within an hermetically sealed package 25. The package has a window 30 for passing light from the laser diode to the exterior of the package. Preferably, the laser source is incorporated into a gas monitor. The heat pump may be operable to adjust the operating temperature of the laser diode to adjust the wavelength of the light being emitted. A temperature sensor 12 can provide primary control of the operation of the heat pump. The at least one detector may comprise a monitor detector 40 positioned to receive a portion 42 of the laser light which is reflected from a surface of the window.; A signal detector 22 may be arranged to monitor incident light entering the package through the window. The hermetically sealed package 25 may contain a gas sample which is to be monitored by the gas monitor. The gas sample having an absorption line for use by the monitor detector for measuring the wavelength of the light emitted by the laser diode. A focusing lens 18 can be used to focus the light emitted from the laser diode 10. In a further alternative arrangement, the laser diode may be active in two directions. Light emitted in one direction may be directed to the window 30, while light emitted in the other direction can be directed on to the monitor detector behind the laser diode. |
