摘要 | PURPOSE:To irradiate an optical disk with ellipsoidal and circular light spots at the same time in a single optical path by using a semiconductor laser beam source for emitting a light beam having astigmatism as a light source forming an ellipsoidal spot. CONSTITUTION:Astigmatism is not generated in an oscillating light beam 41 from a semiconductor laser beam source 1 which is such a waveguide structure that an activation area 50 is throughly enclosed by an area 51 having a lower refractive index than the former area. On the other hand, as to the semiconductor laser beam source 2 which is such a structure that an insulation film 54 is stuck on the whole surfaces except a stripe surface part 53 for injecting an electric current, a beam waist 60a in the vertical direction to a conjunction part of an oscillating light beam 42 is conformed with cavity end surface, while a beam waist 60b in the parallel direction is positioned inside the cavity end surface, thus generating the astigmatism in the beam 42. By converging these beams 41 and 42 with the same objective lens 14, the disk 20 can be irradiated by the circular and ellipsoidal spots 31 and 32 respectively. Consequently, the device can be miniaturized, reducing the number of parts. |
