摘要 | A non-plated region 21 is formed in a certain range from an end of a submount 5. The non-plated region 21 is a portion where a plating layer 17 is not provided, and thus a substrate of the submount is exposed. An intermediate layer 13 is formed on the plating layer 17. Furthermore, a plating layer 19 is formed on the intermediate layer 13. A semiconductor laser 11 is formed on the plating layer 19. The position of an end of the semiconductor laser 11 substantially coincides with the position of an end of the plating layer 19 (the intermediate layer 13). That is, even in a case where there is a deviation between an end face of the intermediate layer 13 and an end face of the semiconductor laser 11, the amount of this deviation is sufficiently smaller than the amount by which the intermediate layer 13 is set back from an end face of the submount 5. |
