Spectroscopic and thermal properties of novel Yb3+-doped TeO2-PbO-NbO2.5 based tellurite glasses with high emission cross-section

摘要Series of 70% TeO2 - x% PbO - (30 - x%) NbO2.5 (x = 0, 5, and 10 mol.%) glasses doped with Yb2O3 were prepared by the melt-quenching method. Their emission cross-sections, fluorescence lifetimes and gain coefficient were investigated by the absorption spectra and the fluorescence decay curves, respectively. The results show that the glass with 10% PbO possesses the largest emission cross-section of 1.51 pm(2), the fluorescence lifetime of 0.68 ms and the gain coefficient of 1.03 ms.pm(2). These indicate that this tellurite glass may have potential application as Yb2O3 doped gain medium for solid laser.
